Amanda K. Crowder, LCSW
[she/her]

I was born and raised in Morehead City, North Carolina. I moved to Charlotte to complete my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of North Carolina and the owner of Calming Waters Counseling Services. My experience comes from working in several different settings providing services to adolescents, adults, and families. I am a certified trauma therapist and certified EMDR therapist.

I am creative in my therapeutic approach and I find ways to engage with even the most resistant and challenging clients and families. I remain passionate, supportive, and understanding no matter the individual, and regardless of the challenges and issues faced together in therapy. I believe in the importance of the therapeutic relationship and work hard to create a space to ensure my clients feel heard, safe, and seen.

Currently, I focus my work on clients struggling with complex trauma and/or complex family system dynamics. I use modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and EMDR, and I take an extremely collaborative approach. I am well-versed in high-conflict families, including co-parenting, reunification therapy, and working individually with various parts of the family system. Through hard work together, change can happen.

With our expertise, dedication, and trauma-informed approach, we’ll match you with an outstanding therapist who can meet you where you are in your journey.
