Collaborative Divorce
Having a child specialist involved holds a safe space for them during a challenging time.
Collaborative Divorce is a relatively new process that utilizes a team of experts who share specific strategies in order to assist families in staying out of court when going through the divorce process.
The goal is not to win or lose, but rather to provide the right kind of space so all sides can come to an objective and equitable agreement. This process also allows families to remain amicable and considerate when coming to an agreement.
The team consists of each parent having:
- a separate lawyer
- a financial neutral
- a child specialist
At Calming Waters Counseling Services, we have a child specialist on staff.
The child specialist supports the team in identifying the child’s needs, as they experience change in the family dynamics. Some or all of your children may be appropriate for this service, depending on the details of your case.
Our child specialist allows the child to have a voice in a space that is safe to discuss uncomfortable topics. They will also provide feedback regarding structure, routine, and developmental milestones to assist you in reaching an appropriate parenting agreement that supports their relationship with each parent.
