Kaelyn Alexander, LCMCHA [she/her]
Hi there, my name is Kaelyn Alexander and it’s a pleasure to meet you! I found my passion for counseling through my own experiences with mental health. Life is a tough journey, and no one is meant to go through it alone, though it can often feel very lonely. My goal as your therapist is to provide a safe, welcoming, non-judgmental space for you to process your experiences, heal your wounds, explore yourself, and continue to grow on your journey. Counseling allows you to process life events, feelings, and more which often leads to better relationships, solutions to specific problems, and relief from distress. Seeking help is a brave decision to make and I’m glad you’re here!
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) in North Carolina. I received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC). I have experience working with individuals aged 16 and older to manage and build skills to reduce symptoms related to depression, anxiety, stress, grief & loss, self-esteem, suicidal ideation, trauma, self-harm, identity exploration, relationships issues, and other mental health and life concerns. My passions extend particularly towards working with individuals in the LGBTQ+ community, the neurodivergent community, and women’s issues.
I believe everybody is unique and so it is important to find what works the best for you to help you through your journey. In sessions I strive to utilize a person centered, trauma informed, eclectic approach for each client and often focus on empowering you to explore and build upon your strengths. My training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) allows me to offer it as a modality for clients to work through traumatic experiences and complex trauma. I also have experience integrating techniques from a variety of therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Outside of counseling, I am a Charlotte native who mostly grew up just north of Charlotte near Huntersville. When I am not working, I enjoy sleeping in, traveling, cooking, and spending time training and enriching my dogs. I am an animal enthusiast and often volunteer at the local humane society. Fun Fact: my dog, Cassie, is in training to be a therapy dog so she can learn how to help others too!
With our expertise, dedication, and trauma-informed approach, we’ll match you with an outstanding therapist who can meet you where you are in your journey.
